Software Engineering Student
NQF Level 6 Occupational Certificate in Software Engineering. Learning practical software engineering through real-world projects and peer-driven team environments.
Software engineer building real, deployed systems with Java, Spring Boot, Python, Flutter, and cloud tooling.
I'm a software engineering student at WeThinkCode_, learning to build systems that solve real problems rather than tutorial ones. I've built and deployed a healthcare queue management system, worked inside an existing codebase on a team, and developed a genuine interest in testing, clean architecture and cloud deployment.
What I do best: understand an existing system, design a clean solution, write testable code, deploy it, then iterate.
Good engineering isn't just knowing a language - it's understanding systems, managing complexity, and getting a little better with every project.
The languages, frameworks and practices I reach for most.
NQF Level 6 Occupational Certificate in Software Engineering. Learning practical software engineering through real-world projects and peer-driven team environments.
Developed software solutions using object-oriented principles, from simple calculations to advanced data structures and algorithms, with clean code practices and design patterns.
Teaching Java fundamentals, OOP, problem-solving and software development concepts while helping learners understand technical ideas clearly.
A real-world system currently used in a local hospital for daily queue management. Evolved from a JavaFX desktop app into a web/mobile-oriented system handling patient check-in, queue monitoring and staff coordination.
Barcode check-in/check-out, real-time queue info, staff dashboard, queue monitoring, analytics and reporting, push notifications, and role-based access.
This project showed the gap between tutorials and production: handling edge cases, keeping state consistent, designing APIs for multiple clients, and iterating on an existing codebase.
Real system inside an existing codebase, with sockets, serialisation, threading and concurrency handling.
Modern responsive landing pages with Bootstrap, Sass preprocessing, CSS animation and a mobile-first approach.
Interactive site with CSS transitions, animation and fluid grids that enhance the experience.
How I design and build systems that stay maintainable and adaptable as they grow.
Low coupling, high cohesion. Each component has one reason to change, which makes it easier to test and modify.
Design code to be testable. If something is hard to test, the design probably needs rethinking.
Build, test, get feedback, iterate. That is how real systems evolve without becoming over-engineered.
Before changing something, understand why it is designed that way. That prevents breakage and teaches what came before.
Complex problems need abstraction, not more code. SOLID, patterns and clear naming reduce cognitive load.
Systems that stay changeable stay valuable. I structure systems so they can evolve gracefully.
